Tv mode on a DSLR camera is "Shutter Priority Mode." In Tv mode you can adjust the shutter speed of the camera, while the camera adjusts the aperture automatically. This mode is good when you are trying to freeze fast moving objects because you can set the shutter speed to very fast. It's a good setting when you want to use long exposures. Another thing this mode is good for is sport and wildlife photography.
